Some early feedback

Spotted on the Web: An anonymous blogger who identifies himself only as Magazine Man, "an editor at one of the most popular magazines in the world" (hmmm, enticing, an international man of mystery), received an advanced copy of Marley & Me, and filed this posting at http://masthead.blogspot.com/2005_06_01_masthead_archive.html ..... which I stumbled upon while googling my name and book (yes, pathetic, I know):
"William Morrow sent me an advance copy (ah, the perks of this job) of Marley & Me, Philadelphia Inquirer columnist John Grogan's memoir of and valentine to his dog. Plenty of male writers have had dogs in their lives and felt compelled to write about it, not always to best effect. But this is one of the better efforts. Grogan's a pretty goddamn good writer."

.....I guess I'll take that as a compliment. Hey, he sandwiched me between Seabiscuit and David Sedaris on his "what I'm reading" list, so no complaints from this corner. Incidentally, Magazine Man runs a pretty lively blog. It doesn't take long to figure out the guy is who he claims to be. He writes too well to be faking it.

This also turned up in that google search: Donna Plante, a bookseller at the Bookin' It independent bookstore in Little Falls, Minnesota, put Marley & Me on her staff picks list, http://www.bookinitontheweb.com/staff.html. She wrote: "I'm entranced with Marley and Me by John Grogan. If you love dogs, you will love the story of Marley, the attention deficit dog who is more than slightly crazed and entirely loving and lovable without an aggressive bone in his very large body."
....Thanks, Donna!
