On the Road Again

Friday, September 18, 2009

Hi everyone. Greetings from Dallas, Texas, where I am at the midway point in my "Marley Goes to School" tour. So far, it's been going great, I'm eating my vegetables, and enjoying meeting lots of new and really wonderful folks.

The tour began Monday with a 23-station radio satellite tour from home. Then Tuesday I flew to Atlanta and did an evening talk at a Barnes & Noble there, followed on Wednesday by appearances in two schools, one public, one private. Then I hopped on a plane for Houston, where I made stops at two more schools and at Brazos independent bookstore. This morning I caught a short flight to Dallas, where I spoke with 200 kids at St. Monica's Catholic School, and then gave a talk/reading/signing at a Borders store. Tomorrow I head for Denver, then Boulder and Seattle before heading home. To see when and where I'm appearing, please click the "events" tab on the top of this page.

Meanwhile, here are links to two media spots about Marley Goes to School. The first is from CNN, whose studios I stopped by while in Atlanta. The second is from the Dallas Morning News.

Now I'm off to sleep. Up before dawn tomorrow to catch my flight to Denver. If I'm going to be in your neighborhood, please stop in and say hello.

Hello John

It was a pleasure to meet you with my wife at the end of your dallas borders book reading and signing.

I saw you spoke at my church as well, st monicas.

want to mention again how eerily similar your unbringing was to mine..right down to an m80 almost blowing up my hand, messing in the sacristy and mother calling me "billy"

you have made a major impact on many people's lives with your warm and human prose, John...and your priest friend has you pegged as clearly a man of influence

hope you get home to your wife kids and dogs soon...

be well...and if you ever want a new iphone (i am one of those worthless senior att executives) please let me know...

Still reading A Longest Trip Home, and have to say the depictions are strangely familiar, however coming from a male viewpoint of Harbor Hills, the lake and the young kids in the neighborhood, it certainly is enchanting. Must continue my read, knowing what I know and laughing out loud.

Oi John!

John,

I saw Marley in the theater and I'm watching it again as I write this. I live in Lake Worth, FL, so at one point, we were almost neighbors. Just like everyone else, I cry every time I watch it. We have 3 dogs, including a Golden Lab, so I so appreciate how much you loved him. Thanks for writing and sharing such a both fun and touching story.

Sincerely,

Ken Levinson
